The song featured in the U.S. teaser trailer and the international version of the “Creed” trailer is “Prisoner 1 & 2” by rapper Lupe Fiasco. “Prisoner” is a powerful and catchy song about … you guessed it, prisoners. The song was originally released in January, 2015 and was not written for “Creed”, although it works perfectly with the trailer, which shows Rocky Balboa coming to prison to bail out Adonis Creed who was imprisoned for fighting.
The full U.S. trailer, released in early September, opts for a totally different song, this time by the artist Big K.R.I.T. who posted a Tweet after the release of the second “Creed” trailer saying: “Def an amazing feeling having ‘Life’ play in the trailer for ‘Creed’!!! #Cadillactica”
The song, titled “Life”, appears on Big K.R.I.T.’s album Cadillactica which was released in November, 2014.
