The female lead in “Creed” has been set – actress Tessa Thompson, famous for her recent Sundance Festival hit “Dear White People” will star opposite Michael B. Jordan and alongside Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa in the 2016 film. The story for the Creed was written by Ryan Coogler and Aaron Covington; Stallone actually teamed with Coogler to introduce the project to MGM.
And in news that will raise eyebrows among Rocky fans, Rocky’s original producers, Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff have been named as Creed’s producers, alongside Sylvester Stallone and Kevin King.
