This exceptionally rare footage of the making of Rocky II features cast interviews with Talia Shire, Sylvester Stallone, Carl Weathers, Burt Young, Burgess Meredith. It’s chock-full of incredible behind the scenes footage showing the filming of the second sequel, and various alternate takes of some of the most famous scenes including Rocky’s proposal to Adrian at the Philadelphia zoo (with Sly explaining in an interview why they chose to shoot there in the snow); Rocky and Adrian’s wedding; the Beast Aftershave commercial; and the hospital scene from the opening of the film where you can see Stallone and Carl Weathers ramming their wheelchairs together in good fun.
Other sequnces show Stallone working out in preparation for his role and taking a hike in the mountains with Butkus the dog; Carl Weathers talking about Muhammad Ali’s connection to the character of Apollo Creed (and showing some fast fisted moves); Burt Young and Talia Shire laughing together in church for the wedding scene and more.
This footage is courtesy of Huntley Film Archives and is just the sort of thing that fans are itching to see on future DVD special features which thus far have been sorely lacking. At least we can enjoy this amazing video online!
